Barqia vs Go4WhatsUp: how to choose
Last reviewed: 2026-08-13
Go4WhatsUp is a working WhatsApp Business platform in the Saudi market, and one of the platforms merchants in this market ask about. This page does not claim neutrality — we are one of the two. But it holds to one rule: it does not describe the competitor beyond what they say about themselves, and it says where we are weaker.
Why there is no column for them in this table
The usual comparison page puts up a table where the competitor's column is full of ✗ and ours is full of ✓. The table below is not that, for two reasons.
The first is that it is usually untrue: any platform operating in this market does most of the basics, and a column full of ✗ says more about us than it does about them. The second is that prices and features change, and a cell written today becomes a false claim about another company three months from now — and we would rather not be the party doing that.
So the table below has one column about us, and a third column we deliberately left to you: the same criteria, turned into questions for them, filled in with their answer. If their answers beat ours, we have saved you a week.
The criteria worth asking about
Ask every platform you are considering these questions, and compare the answers rather than the slogans. These are general questions for any platform, not accusations aimed at anyone: Go4WhatsUp presents itself as an official platform on Meta's WhatsApp API, and the right place to get their answers is from them, not from us.
Every cell in this table is about us. We filled in no column on anyone else's behalf — the third one is yours to fill in with their answer.
| Criterion | Barqia | Ask them this |
|---|---|---|
| Sending method | Meta's official WhatsApp Cloud API, with Barqia an approved Meta Tech Provider. No tethered number, no hidden browser. | “Are you an approved Meta provider? Show me the embedded signup on screen.” |
| Opt-out scopes | Two scopes, not one: someone who stopped marketing still receives their order confirmation and shipping update. | “Is opt-out one switch that stops everything, or two separate scopes?” |
| Salla and Zid | Both officially connected and live, with orders stored as records tied to the customer's number — not messages read and forgotten. | “Are my orders stored as records I can target a segment on later?” |
| Abandoned-cart recovery | Up to three touches, each measured from when the cart was left, stopping the moment they buy and after seven days. | “How many touches? And is the delay measured from abandonment or from the last message sent?” |
| Number quality rating | Shown in the dashboard, with an automatic notification when a template is rejected or Meta restricts your account — but not when the rating itself drops, and that is a gap we know about. | “Where do I see the rating? And what reaches me automatically without opening the dashboard?” |
| Staff permissions | Three independent scopes — which numbers, which conversations, which desk — and above them, masking the customer's number from a given employee. | “Can I stop an employee from seeing a customer's number while they answer them?” |
| Send timing | Quiet hours, a per-number daily cap, a pause during Friday prayer, and a different window during Ramadan. A deferred message goes out automatically at the first permitted moment rather than being dropped. | “Does the platform know about Friday and Ramadan, or is it one fixed window all year?” |
| Meta's fees | No margin: Meta bills your own account at Meta's rates, and your Barqia subscription is the platform fee only. | “Do you add a margin on a Meta message? Get the number in writing.” |
| Data location and DPA | Our servers are outside the Kingdom today and the server backups are in the United States. The transfer is disclosed in our privacy policy, and our data processing agreement is published at barqia.net/dpa for you to read before you subscribe. | “Exactly where is my data stored, and where are the backups? Do you publish a data processing agreement?” |
| Channels live today | WhatsApp only. No Instagram, no Telegram, no SMS. | “Which channels are live today — not on the roadmap?” |
| Price and invoicing | Published in full on the pricing page in Saudi riyals, with no setup fee and an invoice for every payment made through us — a subscription billed through the Salla or Zid app market is invoiced by them. Seven-day trial, once per account. | “What is the final price including VAT? Is there a setup fee or a minimum term?” |
Our own answers, in detail
Sending is over the official WhatsApp Cloud API, and Barqia is a Meta Tech Provider. No tethered number, no hidden browser.
Consent is two scopes, not one: someone who stopped the marketing still receives their order confirmation and shipping update, because that is not what they asked to stop.
Salla and Zid orders are stored as real records tied to the customer's number, not as passing messages. That is what makes "bought once and never came back" a segment you can target.
Cart recovery runs up to three touches, each measured from when the cart was left, stopping the moment they buy and after seven days.
The number's quality rating is shown in the dashboard. You get an automatic notification when a template is rejected or Meta restricts your account — but not when the rating itself drops, and that is a gap we know about.
Staff permissions are three independent scopes, and above them the ability to mask the customer's number from a given employee.
And no margin on Meta's pricing: what Meta charges passes through unchanged.
And on where the data sits, the question we are asked most and like answering least: our servers are outside the Kingdom today, the server backups are in the United States, and the full detail — including which of our safeguards are not yet complete — is in the privacy policy, with the data processing agreement published at barqia.net/dpa. The next section explains what that means for you in practice.
Where we are weaker today
A comparison page that mentions no weakness is an advertisement, so let us be direct. Here are three that lose us deals, named plainly.
Data residency: WhatsApp messages are processed by Meta outside the Kingdom for every platform on its Cloud API, ours and everyone else's — but what is specific to us is that our database and our backups also sit outside the Kingdom today, and the server backups are in the United States according to our hosting provider's own systems. The transfer is disclosed in our privacy policy, and its basis is that it is necessary to perform the service, not a separate consent we ask you for. We publish a data processing agreement at barqia.net/dpa that you can read before you subscribe rather than after. And what is not yet in place we state as it is: we have not executed SDAIA's Standard Contractual Clauses, and we have not documented a formal transfer risk assessment. If your procurement lawyer is going to ask — and in healthcare, education and government work they will — get that answer in writing from us and from every platform you are considering. Moving our backups to a Gulf region is an open item on our side, not a promised date.
Channels: WhatsApp only today. No Instagram, no Telegram, no SMS. If a core part of your conversations arrives on Instagram, we are the wrong choice today, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Age: Barqia is newer than several platforms in this market, which means fewer battle-tested edge cases and fewer references to put in front of a procurement committee. It also means your feature request reaches the person writing the code, and that the answer is not "we'll add it to the roadmap." Pick whichever of those matters more to you — both are real.
When we are the wrong choice, and when we are the right one
We are not trying to win every deal. Here are the two clearest cases we know.
We are the wrong choice if in-Kingdom data residency is a non-negotiable contractual requirement, or if a core part of your customers message you on Instagram, or if you need a vendor with years in the market and a long reference list to put in front of a procurement committee. In those cases, save your time and ask someone else first.
We are the right choice if your store is on Salla or Zid and you want your orders to become segments you can target rather than messages that are read and forgotten, or if you run a team on a single number and need to govern who sees what, or if you want to hear about a rejected template before a customer asks you about it. We built those because they were our problem first.
How to compare them yourself in a week
The best comparison is not a page written by a vendor but a week of real operation. And it is cheaper than you think.
Take a trial of each. Connect the same store. Turn on the one thing that matters most to you — usually COD confirmation or cart recovery. Then measure three things: how long setup took end to end, how many messages actually arrived, and how many questions you had to ask support and how long the answers took.
The third is the most honest. A platform is tested on the day something breaks, not on the day everything works.
Common questions
- I'm already on another platform — what do I lose if I switch?
- Your number stays your number: it is registered to your own Meta account, not to the platform, so switching means releasing it from your current platform and registering it with us through embedded signup. The gap between those two steps is minutes, not days — but it is a real gap in which no message reaches you, so pick a quiet hour for it. Your approved templates come with you if the WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) belongs to your own Meta portfolio. That is the first thing to confirm with your current platform, before anything else: if the account is registered in their name rather than yours, you start over with new template approvals, and that takes days. Two things do not come across automatically: your old conversation archive — WhatsApp hands it to no platform — and your contact lists, which you export from your current platform as a file and import here. Ask them for that export before you cancel, not after.
- What will this actually cost me per month?
- Two numbers, from two different parties. The first is your Barqia subscription — published in full on the pricing page in Saudi riyals, with no setup fee and no minimum term. The second is Meta's conversation fees, billed to your own Meta account at Meta's own rates, with nothing added by us. That is why we cannot give you one final figure: the second half depends on how many conversations you open and of which type, and that price is published and changed by Meta. What we can promise is that what you pay us is known in advance, and what you pay them never passes through us.
- Why don't you list Go4WhatsUp's prices here?
- Because they are not ours to publish, and because they change. A price we write today becomes wrong information about another company later, and that is not something we want on our site. Check their site for their current pricing and our pricing page for ours — each is maintained by its source.
- Can I trial both at the same time?
- On two different stores or two different numbers, yes. But note: one number cannot sit on two official APIs at once. If you are trialling sequentially, start with whichever you think is the better fit, so you do not migrate the number twice.
- What makes a platform better for a Salla or Zid store specifically?
- The depth of the integration, not its existence. Ask: are orders stored or read and forgotten? Does the catalog sync? Does an agent see the customer's orders inside the conversation? And does connecting the store remove the platform's own verification paperwork? "Supports Salla" is a sentence every platform says; the difference is in those details.
- Is this page neutral?
- No, and we do not claim to be — we sell one of the two. What we commit to is narrower: not describing the competitor beyond what they say about themselves, and stating where we are weaker. The section titled “Where we are weaker today” above exists for exactly that.
